Waiting for the recession to end before beginning a job search? First, look at this.

We’re still not ready to reveal full results of our 29th annual survey but I can share some data and it’s that respondents with professional certification--all earn more than their colleagues who don’t hold the designation.   (The percentage “more” is from 6 to 12%).

Salary survey respondents who have not earned professional certification take home 3.9% less than average. .

With the Bureau of Labor Statistics expecting employment for purchasing professionals to grow more slowly than average over the next few years, certification may be something worth looking into.

Results of Purchasing’s 29th annual survey will appear in the December 2009 issue of Purchasing Magazine. Meanwhile, you can check results of last year’s survey for more information on purchasing compensation.
